Out of ICE and into Quarantine
Donation protected
An ICE detention center in Aurora Colorado is one of the places that ICE cruelly detains large groups of trans gender women who seek political asylum in the United States. Since the start of the COVID-19, an enormous collective of advocates have been fighting for the release of the trans population from this detention center. Today, April 15, ICE released 8 women who are medically vulnerable and particularly exposed. We are not going to rest until every single person is out of ICE custody, but for the moment these 8 women need support.
The Aurora detention center has been exposed to COVID-19 and before any of these women can travel to their destination in NYC they need to quarantine in a hotel. We need to rent 4 hotel rooms for 13 days. We already have some big pledges from friends around the country but we are going to need around $2,000 to make sure everyone is safe and fed in quarantine.
We know that there is so much need right now. Even the smallest donation will make a difference. Our friends are almost to safety.
