Out There Theater Company's Inaugural Show, The 39 Steps

Donation protected
WOAH! Hello!

We're Out There Theater Company (OTTC) and we're so excited to see you all the way out here! We're here to ask for your help funding our inaugural show!

About us:

OTTC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit theater company based in Portland, ME.

  • Mission Statement
OTTC is dedicated to producing newer works and adaptations throughout Maine. We strive to pay our artists and designers their worth in order to foster and retain local talent. We utilize both conventional and nonconventional spaces to further encourage and engage our community in the arts.

  • Our Founders and Board of Directors:
Left to right:
Sarah Kennedy (Vice President)
Joanna Clarke (Secretary)
Dalton Slade Kimball (President and Treasurer)

We created Out There Theater Company because everywhere we looked in this beautiful state we were inspired: inspired by the depth and breadth of local talent, inspired by the nature that surrounds us, and inspired by an overwhelming love for the artform. We know theater can be done well while also providing a collaborative, safe environment for all involved.

We were inspired to create a theater company that primarily produces traditional works in the summertime and produces guerilla theater during the rest of the year. What is guerilla theater? It's any show, work, concert, etc. that is done in an unconventional space. Imagine a one night performance of The Last Five Years done in a pub. Imagine a monthly staged reading of a local writer's work as we workshop their piece. Imagine attending a public, "just for fun" cattle call and watching your fellow community members perform monologues, sing arias, or belt their favorite musical number in a themed location (woods, beach, etc.) just to flex their creative chops: they'll surely surprise you (and anyone involved in casting) with what they can do when given the chance. That's guerrilla theater. These would be fun fundraising and community events where volunteer performers would help us raise funds to produce our next season while fostering the community we love dearly.

We've already started to work with and pay local artists! You'll see their work here in this GoFundMe and at our logo reveal coming soon.
