Outback Marathon for Lobular Breast Cancer UK
Running a Outback Marathon for Lobular Breast Cancer UK:
In January 2025, my beautiful mum was diagnosed with lobular breast cancer. She’s one of the most active, strong, and vibrant women I know—always living life to the fullest, keeping fit and healthy. Seeing her face this challenge with such courage as she undergoes tough treatment has been both heart-breaking and inspiring. It’s shown me firsthand how cancer does not discriminate.
To honour her and support others going through the same battle, I’ve decided to take on a challenge of my own: running a marathon in the heart of the Australian Outback to raise funds for Lobular Breast Cancer UK. While the run will be demanding, it’s nothing compared to the physical and emotional hurdles faced by those diagnosed with lobular breast cancer.
Why this cause matters:
• Lobular breast cancer accounts for approximately 15% of all breast cancer cases, making it one of the most common subtypes.
• An estimated 43,000 new cases of invasive lobular breast cancer are diagnosed every year.
• Due to its unique growth pattern, lobular breast cancer often doesn’t form a distinct lump, making it harder to detect through standard screening methods.
• Despite its prevalence, lobular breast cancer remains under-researched and is rarely recognized as a distinct disease, meaning more attention and funding are desperately needed.
Every penny raised will go directly to Lobular Breast Cancer UK, helping fund crucial research, improve early detection methods, and provide essential support for those affected.
This marathon is personal. It’s for my mum, and for all the mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, and loved ones fighting this disease.
If you can, please donate—every contribution, big or small, will make a real difference. And if you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to me.
Thank you so much for your support!
