CHS outdoor classroom, outdoor learning essentials

CHS has been educating the children of the Finger Lakes Region for over 40 years, Pre-K through 5th grade. It is a non-profit private school that has an enrollment of over 30 children.
For many years it has been the school's intention to build a sheltered outdoor classroom at Geneva Peeps- a property that the school was given by a generous benefactor in the 'Uniquely Urban' city of Geneva NY. Currently the property houses a solar field, an urban chicken cooperative, community gardens as well as a free farm stand. During the school year the children play and learn at this location nearly every day as it is within a few blocks of the school. This structure would facilitate the goals and vision of the school. In this new and rapidly changing education environment and with consideration for the importance of physical distancing, this space has now become a much more urgent priority. We humbly ask that you consider what you would be willing to pledge to the school to meet our stretch fundraising goal of $14,000 (8/21 we are at $11,665 between direct donations to the school and GFM) Donors will receive tax receipts from the PayPal Giving Fund.
As always, we are extremely grateful for the school community and the different ways that all families make the school a magical place for children to learn & grow at Moodie's Children’s Hours School.
Thank you so much for your consideration and we are looking forward to working together to help meet this financial need to avoid tuition increases while supporting the students and educators who are returning to full time, in person learning this fall while following every New York State health and safety guideline.
Now that we have raised the funds for the building and are working towards furnishing the classroom, any more funds will go to additional investments the school will make to support outdoor learning, any leftover will go towards the general fund.
