Outpost Studio Flood Recovery and Rebuild.

On Monday, my friends Joanna , Beki , Robyn , Kylie  and Erica  lost the entire contents of their collective artspace 'The Outpost ' in the Lismore floods. The contents of their studio have been completely destroyed, including all their artworks, equipment and materials. These phenomenal artists are in great need of financial support to recover, replace and rebuild all they have lost during this catastrophic event.

 

The floodwaters overtopped the levee and reached 14.4m which was well beyond predicted levels, subsequently inundating their studio in East Lismore.

 

While the artwork they lost can never be replaced, with your help, these amazingly talented ladies can begin to get back on their feet, re-establish their practices and kickstart their income streams again.

 

The Outpost began as a shared dream to start a collective space for Artists, Creators & Makers. A place to share skills and explore new ideas and techniques. The studio housed equipment and materials for many processes, including jewellery making, ceramics, printmaking, painting and graphic design, as well as their individual collections of work.

 

They established the space in 2020 to create a shared studio environment in which they could individually and collectively work on their practices and small businesses with like-minded creatives. They are all actively engaged and intrinsically connected to the vibrant Northern Rivers arts community.

 

My heart is heavy. There was a collective loss of at least 50 plus years worth of art made, stored, between the 5 of them. Their space was out of the historical flood zone, and no one expected or predicted this volume of water would engulf the city. The whole town has suffered immeasurable loss, my friends have not only lost the contents of their studio, but some have also lost their homes.

 

The funds raised here will go directly to the artists to assist in their immediate needs to get back on their feet; I would be forever grateful if you can help by donating.
