Outrageously bad luck

Hi everyone,

 

I truly need some help!

 

I've been struggling a lot and working nonstop to build a life after the loss of the Lair of Abraxas. But now I just had the worst run of luck and the most bizarre turn of an event ever that has left me up crap creek without a paddle.

 

A week ago I went and bought myself a more efficient car that I had been saving up for almost a year now so that I can continue delivery driving and traveling for conventions, and I found one at a decent deal! Car was great if only a little dinged up, title checked out, got the key from the guy selling it, signed everything, and went on to register it.

 

When I got to the DMV the lady there pulled up the information on the car and, this is my life for real, it showed up as stolen. She said that this happens sometimes and that it was probably an error and to just give the police department a call.

 

Once I spoke to the Aurora Police Dept of records they said I will need to go to my local police. I went over there with my heart in my throat and I showed them my signed title with VIN verification and emissions that was done on the 30th of Nov.... I mean I had checked ALL of the boxes... and I went through the story of what had happened with them. I did everything right, even the police were left dumbfounded on what I could have done differently.

 

But nope. I am truly screwed.

 

They did some research and come to find, the vehicle was indeed stolen.

The owner had left the extra key and the title in the glove box of the vehicle and they had left on vacation, only to come back to find their car gone. Unbeknownst to me the man that sold me this stolen vehicle was a car thief, and with a clean title and the original key there was no way for me to have known.

 

So. The rightful owner of the Yaris has gotten their car back BUT I am out my money. The cops are pretty certain I will never see a dime, even if they do manage to find this guy.

 

While I am very happy that the owners got back their property, I am gutted and destroyed over the fact that I am just out thousands, just like that.

 

So I'm here. I'm asking for help. I don't know what else to do. I can't recoup my loss. It would take me another year to build up enough to buy a vehicle. Those of you that know me know that I never ask for myself, but I have no other option at this point.

 

Please help me if you can or share with your people if you can't. It means everything to me right now.
