Ovens for the Hurst school

Hi, my name is Susan Young I'm a food tech teacher at The Hurst School,

We need some help

We, at The Hurst, pride ourselves on giving our pupils the best opportunities in their education. ‘Building minds and character for future life success’ is our vision, and we aim to give them practical life skills wherever possible.

Our food tech Department has two fully operational classrooms. We hold 3 to 4 lessons a day, that teach a broad variety of cooking techniques and recipes. Cooking is a very creative and technical subject which gives our pupils a sense of confidence in their own abilities. We currently have 180 key stage 3 pupils and 114 key stage 4 pupils who come through our classrooms every week. All students at KS3 receive two lessons of Design Technology over their two-week timetable. GCSE Design Technology and Hospitality and Catering are extremely popular options in Key Stage 4.

We currently have working ovens. But the ovens are well over ten years old and are no longer performing at their best. We would like to replace eight of these ovens with brand new Hotpoint ovens. We need your help to raise £1,800 to ensure we can continue to provide the best environment and quality teaching.
