Overcoming Addiction Through Adventure

Donation protected
My son, Joshua, is an amazing young man. He has always been loving, compassionate, and a faithful friend. Unfortunately, he has also had many deep hurts in his young life and that has lead to extreme depression, anxiety and substance abuse. Over the last two years, he has been in a battle for his life. Although he has been to many counselors, outpatient programs and put on medication, we still have yet to get to the source of his pain. Until that source is dealt with, he continues to reach for drugs that will numb his pain.

We have tried everything that our insurance would cover. What I've learned in this process is that our system for dealing with mental illness and drug abuse is very broken. Josh is one who is falling through the cracks, even though we have a court order from our doctor and witnesses to verify the severity of his situation. As a parent of a minor, I am unable to put Josh into a treatment program without his consent....unless I can put him into a private facility which insurance does not cover. The only thing that keeps me from being able to do this is money.

It doesn't seem right that money should be the thing standing between helping a young person get on the right track for their entire life, or letting them keep spiraling downward and potentially destroying or ending their life. I believe the best chance that Joshua has to recover his life at this point is the opportunity to attend Teen Challenge Adventure Ranch. It is a therapeutic boarding school for boys that will deal with his dual diagnosis of mental health and substance abuse, while also helping him recover his education, establish order in his life and teach him how to enjoy life in a healthy way. The success rate for recovery is very high and everyone I talk to tells me this is an exceptional program.

Josh was discharged from the hospital on 4/19/19 and was supposed to enter a different local program. At the last minute, he was denied the opportunity to attend. I had no choice but to bring him home. Unless I can send him to Teen Challenge, the possibility for Josh to get the help he needs is very slim. He has already tried all the outpatient treatments available and I am not able to effectively help him at home.

I need $40, 000 to get him into this program ASAP. This will cover all of his costs including transportation to Arkansas where the Ranch is located. For Joshua's benefit, he needs to go there this week.

Any amount that you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. Know that your donation will be helping the future generation of leaders, because that's who I believe Joshua is. Our young people need us to step up and help them overcome the negative culture that oppresses them daily. We must be the light-bearers that show them the way out of the darkness. Many of you know the pain of watching your child suffer and having to sit by not knowing how to help. I am willing to do whatever is necessary to get Joshua to this Ranch. Will you please help?
