Overland High School Chinese Program Trip to China

Hi, my name is Yingxin Liu, a Chinese teacher at Overland High School. I am fundraising for our school's Chinese Program Trip to China.

Overland High School's Chinese program is excited to share news of our upcoming trip to China in March, scheduled over Spring Break. The itinerary is packed with stops in various cities, including Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu, and Shanghai. Highlights include visits to the Great Wall of China, the Terra Cotta Warriors, local tours, cultural walks, bullet trains, and more! This journey has the potential to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our students, promoting responsibility, team building, and providing remarkable cultural exposure.

Your consideration to sponsor a portion of this trip is sincerely appreciated. The estimated cost per student is approximately $3,850, covering trip expenses along with a few meals. It's important to note that in our school, over 50% of students are Black, Latino, and/or Native American, with more than 50% coming from low-income households. Overland High School operates as a non-profit public school.

I firmly believe that every student deserves the chance to broaden their horizons and gain new experiences, regardless of their financial background. Perhaps there are ways to fundraise or seek out scholarships to help offset the cost of the trip for those who may not be able to afford it. Ultimately, it's important to consider the potential benefits of such a trip and weigh them against any potential drawbacks
