Overturned - A Short Film By Meredith Vivian

Donation protected

OVERVIEW:
Meredith Vivian is a Los Angeles based filmmaker from Buffalo, New York. Meredith enjoys writing and directing films that challenge societal norms and fight to make the world a safer, more inclusive space.

Overturned is set in the near future and serves as a cautionary tale for where we could be headed following the 2022 U.S. Supreme Court overturning of Roe v. Wade. Overturned explores themes of female friendship, bodily autonomy, morality, and violence, amongst others.

Making a film is extremely expensive. Production costs include the actors and crew, camera, location and sound rentals, lighting, editing, music, sound mixing, color grading, hair, makeup, SFX, transportation, and insurance... just to name a few. In order to bring this timely, urgent, and unique film to life, I'm asking for your help in raising $18,000.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT:
Between dance classes, piano recitals, summer camp at Buffalo’s Theatre of Youth, writing my own short stories, middle school theatre, high school theatre, all the way to a college degree in... yep, you’ve guessed it, theatre, the arts have always been absolutely everything to me.

Over the past six years in Los Angeles, I’ve surrounded myself with countless inspiring creators. I’ve become consistent collaborators with the INCREDIBLE Meghan Maddigan, Shannon Little, and Raissa Reis. Together, we’ve completed numerous projects including the web series Where Are They Now, which placed in the Best of Shorts Competition at Sydney Web Fest, the short film Where It Happened, which premiered at the Provincetown International Film Festival in 2022, and the short film Ask Me Already, which was featured at the 2023 Pinewood Film Studios Lift Off Sessions.

Overturned is well underway in pre-production. We will be shooting this December under the SAG-AFTRA Micro Budget Agreement. We've officially locked in our entire cast and crew and are location scouting as we speak.

Absolutely any and all contribution helps immensely. Sharing this post helps immensely. Sending positive vibes helps immensely!

Thank you to all of my magnificent friends, family, and colleagues for your endless support throughout the years. There are no words to explain what you mean to me.

Now, let's bring Overturned to life!
