Skylar Fuss-Heaven Made Me This Way

Our daughter Skylar is 6 years old. She's a beautiful child who compliments everyone she meets and gives the best hugs and kisses in the world! She is extremely smart, is excelling academically in school and loves to sing and dance. Most days she wants to be a vet when she grows up because she loves animals and wants to make them better. She also wants to be an Artist, or a Princess, or a Model. We think she's amazing and can be any of those things. We admit we may be biased, but we truly do believe our baby girl is destined for greatness. Recently I bought Skylar some new Minnie Mouse Headphones. She made a comment that these headphones only work in 1 ear like all the others. I was surprised and put them on and they worked fine.  When I talked to her about it she was very matter of fact and she also said "I tell my friends to only whisper in my hearing ear when they talk to me". We then made an appt with our pediatrician to get her hearing checked. This is where our newest journey began. After our pediatrician visit we were referred to an Audiologist due to the fact that Skylar heard nothing out of her right  ear. We were talking and trying to figure out how we could've missed her hearing loss, or when it could've happened. Skylar then said "I know why, Heaven made me this way" We have been to an Audiologist and unfortunately Skylar is completely deaf in her right ear and has mild hearing loss in her left ear.  The Dr's think she was most likely born this way. She has adapted amazingly well and because she was born this way never knew she was different. For her future, we hope to be able to give her all or some of her hearing back, or provide her with whatever aids we can to help set her up for success in life. Although we do not know EXACTLY what's in store for her future, we do know we have Dr's appts consisting of MRI's, tests, possible surgeries, hearing aids, and who knows what else. We our private pay and have already paid $600 in the last 2 weeks. We have been told diagnosing and giving Skylar the help she deserves will be a very costly endeavor. Most financial aid that is out there is for hearing aids if she's a candidate, there isn't help for the appts and test we are facing at this point. Any little bit will help and we appreciate anyone who can help us help our little girl.
