Owen Murphy's Eagle Scout Project

Hello, my name is Owen Murphy and I am a Scout in Troop 20 of Boonsboro, MD. I am working on achieving the rank of Eagle, Scouting's highest honor. My Eagle Scout service project will take place at the Western Maryland Rail Trail. This is maintained by the Friends of Fort Frederick, the non-profit group who is the beneficiary of the project. My service project will include installing a Bike Repair Station and refurbishing a bike rack and benches located at the trailhead. I also plan to have the current concrete at this site pressure washed.

 

The Bike Repair Station is an all-in-one console that features mounting pegs for holding the bike off the ground in order to do repairs. The station also has tools essential to bike repair, secured by steel cables. An air pump is also attached to the repair station. I am seeking donations to cover the cost of the lumber, paint, other supplies and the purchased bike repair station.

 

This station will allow riders to tune up their bikes before or during their trek on the 28 mile Western MD Rail Trail. My family has enjoyed the rail trail for many years. My troop also frequently takes biking trips and I felt these improvements were a much needed addition to the trail.

 

Any additional funds will go to Friends of Ft Frederick, in Memory of my Pap, Raleigh Boaze.
