Owen's Eagle Scout Project with Wasatch Mountain Institute
Donation protected
Because of all of our great friends and family, I was able to meet my goal in less than 24 hours! Thank you so much!
Some have asked if they can still donate - while that's very generous, current policy is that we have to stay within the project limits.
I'll keep everyone posted on the project - and the impact of your generosity.
Thanks again, Owen

Hello everyone, I (Owen) am starting my Eagle Scout project which requires some fundraising for materials and supplies.
My project will be working together with the Wasatch Mountain Institute to clean up the Three Rocks Trail in the Jordanelle State Park. Over the past few years, the Three Rocks Trail has fallen into disrepair. The Wasatch Mountain Institute exposes underprivileged children to the outdoors and the beauty of nature. In some cases, hiking this trail is the first outdoor experience these children have. This trail is getting somewhat hard to navigate especially for new hikers. I will be making the trail easier to navigate, more fun, more educational, and overall, a better experience for these children. It is important that their first exposure to nature is a positive one, so they fall in love with nature and return to it often. My project will ensure that they fall in love with nature and strive to make it a part of their life.
First, we will do basic trail maintenance, including cleaning up shrubs, clearing the trail, and removing small debris. We will also replace the wooden posts with numbers, each containing a pamphlet section about local wildlife. We will replace these and add a QR code which will lead to a website with information about local wildlife. We will research the information for the pamphlet and the park will approve a design and print it. The website will be a part of the state parks website and the QR codes will be provided by them. Next, we will review the contents of the signs at the beginning and end of the trail and decide if the information needs to be updated. Finally, we will refurbish the benches along trail. In the end, we'll add a plaque to the bench at the end of the trail designating this project as an Eagle Scout service project by Troop 72.
