OWU Lakota Spring Mission Trip
Donation protected
We are a team of students from Ohio Wesleyan University, accompanied by two staff members, traveling to Pine Ridge Reservation in early March 2016.
We will be using our spring break to serve with the Re-Member organization doing construction projects on the reserveration as well as learning about the history and culture of the people who live there.
We are raising money to allow us to cover the remaining cost of our trip. We have each contributed just over $500 and as a team, we've raised about $1900 through fundraisers on campus and by sending out support letters to our friends and family.
We also hope to be able to make a donation, as a team, to Re-Member in support of their ongoing work in service of the reservation.
We must have support raised by the end of February 2016.
The OWU Spring Break Mission Program, of which this trip as a part, allows students like us to spend a week away from campus doing service, learning new perspectives through our experiences in cities within the U.S. and internationally. We come back from these opportunities with a new outlook after seeing how other people live. We are able to share our experiences with our classmates and apply the lessons to what we're learning at Ohio Wesleyan and beyond.
A week is a short amount of time in the grand scheme of things, the impact of these experiences is carried with us when we leave and impacts how we live our lives within our communities on campus and wherever we go after graduation.
Your investment in this opportunity would have a tremendous impact on our education and outlook. We would be so grateful for your willingness to join us on this journey as we plan to keep you updated on our progress and the work we'll do on the reservation.
