Oxfordshire Badger Vaccination and Rescue
Oxfordshire Badger Group is dedicated to badger protection. Our volunteers provide a 24/7 rescue service and also vaccinate badgers against bovine TB. We are campaigning vigorously to end the badger cull. Our charity helps educate the public and works to protect badgers and their habitats. We own and manage a small area of woodland on Cumnor Hill near Oxford as a wildlife refuge where badgers and other animals can thrive.
We rely entirely on your donations to fund our activities. Please donate if you can. All the money we receive will help protect these wonderful animals.
Help keep our rescue team on the road
Our rescue teams attend badger rescues, ranging from road traffic collisions, injuries, orphaned cubs, and badgers trapped in weird places. Our volunteers are on call 24/7 and are often called out in the early hours of the morning. We don't own veterinary or rehabilitation facilities, so most of the money raised will go to equip our rescue volunteers or toward the veterinary treatment and rehab care of the badgers before they are released back into the wild.
What your donation can buy
Help fund our 6th year of badger vaccination in 2024
Our badger vaccination project is run purely by volunteers who give up their time to help Oxfordshire’s badgers. By vaccinating badgers against bovine Tb (bTB), we offer farmers and landowners a safe, effective, and humane alternative to culling.
We are a fully equipped and trained group, but we need to raise funds to buy consumables for vaccination.
What your donation can buy:
- £10 – a box of 100 disposable gloves
- £20 – a pack of 10 FFP3 masks
- £36 – 1 dose of vaccine
- £50 – 25kg sack of peanuts
- £10 – roll of wire and string for badger traps
What our landowners and volunteers say
"Being selected as a vaccination site felt like winning the lottery !"
"I’m super impressed by your professionalism and all the volunteers’ dedication."
"I had the privilege of my first sighting of live Badgers and to see them vaccinated. Then, best of all, to watch them zoom away back through the undergrowth and into their setts, bouncing, free and protected against Bovine TB".
