Social Change Through Sport

My name is Javier Clavijo. I play soccer for the University of Central Florida. Last year, I went on a week long community service trip, with 15 fellow student athletes, to a beautiful set of islands which collectively make up the country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. On the islands, we served as mentors for children and adolescents of all ages. The goal of the trip was to promote social change through sport and we undoubtedly accomplished this. One of our most notable achievements was the rebuilding of a library, that later became accessible to the children of the island. Individually, this trip impacted me in a tremendous way. The way the children looked up to me, and how my words were able to motivate them to accomplish their dreams was surreal. Providing them with this feeling of hope and happiness was enough for me to be drawn back to them a year later. I am raising money to be able to make this trip happen again! Please help me reach my goal, every little bit counts!!!
