Ozzie the gorgeous English Springer Spaniel

Hi, I’m Shell and 2 years ago this gorgeous little puppy came into my life. He’s my best friend and he literally saved my life.

Last October Oz started with a cough. It gradually became worse until one morning he had to be rushed to the vets and he was diagnosed with Pneumonia. The lovely Vet (Jo) at Vets4Pets at Kirkstall, Leeds was just amazing. She told me how it was touch and go and my heart was just breaking . Oz is part of our family, we all adore him so much. He survived and was allowed home with a very long course of antibiotics.

I assumed he’d just get better but a few weeks later he needed more tests and had a camera inserted so they could see his lungs. All they saw was some inflammation so his antibiotic course was extended.

Although Oz did pick up I knew something just wasn’t quite right and everytime he runs fast (he’s a springer spanner all he knows is FAST) he starts coughing again. Again we went back to the vets and he was given more antibiotics and were advised it could possibly be a heart issue but he’d need scans for that to be diagnosed.

Here we are 5 months later, Oz celebrated his 2nd birthday surrounded by his family (my kids adore him ❤️) who spoilt him. Only a few days later he was being taken to the vets again with a bad cough, high temperature, lethargic, not himself at all and the vet said she can hear his lungs struggling. This time she prescribed Oz some different antibiotics but said Oz needs to see a specialist and have a full body CT scan so they can find out why this is actually happening.

Oz is insured, but just for the consultation it’s £300 and then for the scan it’s £3000 to £5000 and from his intensive care previously, his insurance now doesn’t have that amount left.

I’ve spent the last 2 nights up with Oz as his breathing is crackling, wheezing and it’s breaking my heart

I know everyone is struggling right now and this is literally how desperate I am as anyone who knows me, knows I’m really not someone to ask for help. Anyone who owns a pet knows how loved they are and I just want to do anything I can to help Oz because I’m scared eventually his lungs won’t be able to fight all this.

I’d like Oz to be able to get his scan so the next course of action can be determined……I just want Oz to be able to ‘Spaniel’ again.

I’d like my best friend back, healthy and happy again ❤️.
