Help with Melanie’s medical bills

My cousin Melanie has had a difficult year medically. In August she fell on a concrete slab and broke several vertebrae in her back. Her insurance denied her a necessary back surgery and instead insisted on a kyphoplasty (a procedure that had a 50% chance of working). In October she finally was able to have the back surgery she needed. She was recovering well until the beginning of December when shortness of breath landed her in the hospital. She was septic, had flu, and pneumonia and was placed on a vent in the ICU at UT Medical Center. She is recovering and was moved to a step down unit after a trach was placed to help her breath. We are currently unsure of the full impact this bout in the hospital has caused her physically. She will have to spend the next several months in a rehab hospital in Knoxville.
