Sarah’s funeral & family expenses

Donation protected
UPDATE: On December 18th my mother tragically passed away, Thank you to everyone that has donated and all proceeds will tremendously help the family in these horrific times and with her funeral

My worst nightmare is happening- My kind hard-working mother, Sarah Tong, is fighting to stay on this earth with us. She is 46 years young, a single mom of two, and she just became a grandmother. I never thought that I would be starting a GoFundMe for my precious mother, and certainly not just a month after the birth of my first daughter.

My mom has always helped others and now we are asking for help for her.

My mom has always taught me to be strong and humble, and always love and respect people regardless of their backgrounds and never to judge others. She truly is a saint and has saved more lives than one- she deserves love and support.

Since I can remember, Sarah has always helped others. Her heart led her to working in LA, helping homeless find shelter and get back on their feet. Then, to a career at the twin towers prison in 2005 where she worked for 18 years rehabilitating severely mentally ill patients. She didn’t just work there, she utilized her confident, open, and persuasive personality to completely change the culture within the jail and positively impact the treatments. On her own time and often her own money, she sought plants, books, artwork, fish, holiday decorations- Anything that would bring hope and joy to her patients. Today, what began as one unit serving 16 patients has grown to 20 units serving approximately 440 patients. She has touched countless lives.

Sarah had me and my brother at the young age of 15 and 17, and she absolutely worked her butt off to give us a good life, which was never easy.

In November, our whole world flipped upside down. My mom started falling, feeling very weak at home, and she had what felt like flu symptoms. November 18th, she fell three times until she decided it was time to head to the hospital. We took her in, and her health started declining rapidly and without warning. She became jaundice and was having a hard time thinking correctly. We soon found out her liver is struggling. She’s now in the ICU and is in critical condition, waiting on a liver transplant. Her fiery smile has been squashed by this horrible event, but I know my mother, and she’s a fighter, I can see her fighting everyday.

So today I’m asking for your help. Sarah is currently stable on a ventilator and undergoing dialysis to boost her bodies healing. The funds will help our family take care of her life-saving medical treatments, hospital stay, and medications. And help us take the needed time from work to support her and her healing. Regardless of the days to come, we will need tremendous help to care for my mom.

From the bottom of my heart, I humbly ask that you share this link with friends and family and if possible in giving (any amount will help). Thank you so much each of you for your support of my family.

Some personality traits that my mom’s favorite people say about her…

She’s a fighter
She’s a firecracker
Tiny little woman that’s large and in charge
She’s a spitfire survivor, stronger than most people they know
