18K for 18 Million Thanks
Tax deductible
In April, 14 stationery companies launched 18 Million Thanks , a campaign encouraging people to send handwritten thank you notes to America’s 18 million healthcare workers on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, 50+ greeting card companies and 60+ hospitals have partnered with us, and together we’ve inspired people to send more than 10,000 handwritten thank you notes.
We launched 18 Million Thanks to express gratitude to these incredible frontline workers. Now, as Covid-19 continues to ravage the country, we want to amplify this gratitude by supplementing it with a monetary donation.
18K for 18 Million Thanks
18 Million Thanks is collaborating with #FirstRespondersFirst on an initiative called 18K for 18 Million Thanks. Our goals are simple but impactful:
1) Send 18,000 thank you notes to support the hearts of our frontline healthcare workers
2) Raise at least $18,000 to support their mental health, as well
We are looking to achieve both goals by August 31st.
Tax-deductible donations will go to #FirstRespondersFirst, a charitable fund created by Thrive Global, the CAA Foundation, and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. For this particular opportunity, we are planning to earmark all donations for mental health support for frontline workers in BIPOC communities, which have been hit especially hard by the pandemic. See the bottom of this page for more information about #FirstRespondersFirst. Also, please note that the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) is the 501(c)(3) partner of #FirstRespondersFirst, which is why GoFundMe donations are directed to EIF.
Besides donating, how can you help?
Send Thank You Notes: Write a thank you note---or 10. Be sure to add your notes to the tracker ("Add to the Count") at 18 Million Thanks! More than 60 hospital addresses can be found here.
Corporate Match: Is your company interested in providing matching donations? If so, let us know. We’d be happy to send you an ample supply of thank you cards for a socially distant employee writing party!
Spread the Word: Follow @18millionthanks on Instagram. Please tell your friends and share on social media #18millionthanks #firstrespondersfirst
Let's get to 18,000 thank you notes and $18,000!
More information about #FirstRespondersFirst:
We have chosen to donate to #FirstRespondersFirst, a charitable fund created by Thrive Global, the CAA Foundation, and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health to provide essential supplies, equipment, accommodations, child care, food, mental health support and other resources to protect frontline healthcare workers. For this particular opportunity, we are planning to earmark all donations for mental health support for first responders in BIPOC communities.
Recognizing an urgency to address the mental health needs of those battling the enduring pandemic, #FirstRespondersFirst will implement a holistic approach focused on needs assessment, direct offerings and services, and a campaign to help first responders move from awareness to action. #FirstRespondersFirst will also launch a campaign around destigmatizing the issues of mental health for caregivers and frontline health care workers.
