Cancer Fund for Jamie
Donation protected
On February 1st just 6 months after we were married Jamie was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. We had no idea when we promised "In sickness and in health" that this vow would be tested quite so soon.
The past 3 weeks have been a world wind of consults, tests and procedures. Thankfully the end result is that they tell us this is treatable. The doctors are predicting it will be about a year before he will be able to return to work.
Because of all of the appointments and Jamie's current health status he has been unable to work since the first part of February. Coincidentally 3 days after telling my employer that Jamie has cancer I was "Laid off". We are trying to look at that as a blessing in disguise as because of that I have been able to be by Jamie's side for all of these appointments.
However with Jamie completely out of work and me waiting for my work to begin again. We are in need of some immediate financial assistance. Jamie does qualify for disability however it will be 6 months before he will start receiving his monthly benefits and another 2 years before insurance will kick in. The bills are starting to pile up quickly with daily trips to appointments for consults, testing and procedures, medicines, special foods, co payments, lodging for upcoming hospital stay. This is all on top of our regular monthly expenses. To top it off this is Jamie's birthday month so the vehicles have to be registered as well.
Starting next week Jamie will be having daily radiation treatments in Dover and weekly chemo appointments in Rochester for the next 5-6 weeks. After a brief rest period it's off to Boston for surgery. Where Jamie will remain in the hospital for at least a week.
Anyone who knows Jamie knows what a thoughtful, giving man he is. He has donated his time to DJ for numerous benefits, weddings, business openings and community events. He is always giving of himself to family, friends and even strangers. Jamie and I are used to being the ones that are giving of ourselves to others. And asking for help is very difficult for us. However we are asking for help from you our family, friends and community. We thank you in advance for your generosity. All we ask for is pledges and positive thoughts.
I will be sure to keep you updated on Jamie's progress in the weeks to come.
