John Gunagan Fundraiser

John Gunagan, or Gunner as he is fondly referred to by his family, friends, and neighbors has been fighting a courageous battle with Cancer.  For those of you who don't know, John was first diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma in April 2013.  John went into remission after treatment in 2013, but this past winter the cancer returned.  After several difficult months of treatment it was discovered the cancer had now included Aggressive Large Cell B Lymphoma. Thankfully one of John's brothers is a match for a bone marrow transplant.  In mid-July, John was accepted into a trial at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland.  He has been in and out of the hospital since the end of January.  In fact, since April John has only been home from the hospital for about a day.  Since then his wife Kelli has been spending most days and nights with John while family members are caring for their 3 children Lauren 9, JD 5 and Abbey 3. Neither John or Kelli have been able to work during this difficult time.

John grew up in Walker Pond, Sturbridge and returned with Kelli to raise their family in 2006.  The support John, Kelli and their family has received to date is overwhelming.  The meals, donations and offers to help have all been amazing, but any additional donations to help John and his family would be a tremendous help to them!    

As part of the efforts to help the Gunagan family, the Gunagan Fundraising Committee has also put together a BBQ Chicken fundraising event to be held on Saturday, August 22nd at the Main Beach starting at 1:00pm at Walker Pond, Sturbridge MA.  Tickets can be purchased for $20 adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

The turnout is expected to be great and to help show our love and support for a wonderful family ❤
