Elijah

My best friends, Rachel and Nachion Moore, recently gave birth to their second baby, Elijah. They found early on in Rachel’s pregnancy that Elijah had a rare congenital heart defect called Ebstein Anomaly. They were told that Elijah’s chance of survival during pregnancy was only about 50%. We all prayed for a miracle and for God’s healing. Elijah continued to grow while in Rachel’s belly but his heart was never strong. At the end of Rachel’s pregnancy, doctors said it was highly unlikely Elijah would survive through birth. Elijah clung to life and was born September 8, 2019 but due to complications from his heart disease, he needed oscillatory ventilation in the NICU to stay alive. We all prayed for a miracle and God’s healing for Elijah’s heart but that wasn’t God’s plan. Elijah was a fighter but lost the battle on September 20, 2019. Rachel and Nachion needed Elijah in their arms but Elijah needed to be in Jesus’s arms more. The loss of a child is unfathomable and the ultimate tragedy.
