Ballet Summer Intensive

Hi!

My name is Karis Pendleton. I have been dancing since I was 3. Over the years I have grown to love and am inspired by the art of ballet. I have had the privilege to study at City Dance School and Conservatory and now Avery Ballet.

For the past three summers, I have had the opportunity to work with the Dance Theater of Harlem, Philadanco, Koresh, and many more dance companies as a student at the City Dance School and Conservatory.

After 3 years of a long commute to the conservatory, this year, we decided to look for a local studio closer to my home. I started dancing at Avery Ballet. This change helped me tremendously achieve the necessary training, health, wellness and recovery and academic goals. This change also requires me to travel and find summer-intensive opportunities.

This summer is my first summer traveling outside my local area for instruction. I auditioned for 5 dance schools. I am honored to say that I have been accepted into them all. I officially accepted the offers from Joffrey Ballet New York City (NYC) and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) Ballet programs.

I am excited to say that Joffrey offered me a 50% scholarship! Because of this, the majority of the expense for the summer is for UNCSA. I will be in New York City with Joffrey for 3 weeks and spend the remainder of my summer in North Carolina at UNCSA.

I am writing to ask if you would consider financially supporting me this summer. Your support would go towards my room, board, and tuition.

If you decide to contribute to my summer intensives, I will keep you up to date with videos and pictures of my progress and inform you of any opportunity to attend performances and open houses for the community.
