Erik’s medical expenses

Hi, my name is Lauren and I’m fundraising on behalf of my dad, Erik.

Erik was diagnosed with head and neck cancer in February of 2022. After 30 rounds of radiation to his throat, and 7 rounds of chemotherapy it was thought that there was no longer evidence of his cancer in his throat. However, in August of 2022 we were informed that while incredibly rare for his type of cancer, it had metastasized to his lungs. Erik still wasn’t ready to quit this battle and decided that he would undergo 5 rounds of immunotherapy. While the immunotherapy initially showed promising preliminary results, it unfortunately was not enough. As of December 22, 2022 my dad had proof that the tumors had not resolved in his lungs, and had spread to his liver. Even with this news, my dad has continued to hold his head high and continue this battle. Today, Erik’s medical team has decided that the best treatment plan for him now is to continue immunotherapy in combination with off label use of a targeted therapy in pill form. However, since the use of the medication is off-label, insurance is unwilling to cover the cost of these pills that have a chance at saving my dad’s life. Since these pills are not covered by insurance, we are left with no other option but to purchase these pills ourselves, out of pocket. A 30 day supply of the targeted therapy pills costs $13,000.

Erik has battled this awful disease with such strength and determination. If you know my dad, you know how strong willed he is. He has never asked for help from anybody a single day in his life. Even when going through unimaginable times, he still puts others before himself. So… here I am, asking for help on his behalf.

All donations will go towards helping my dad with any medical expenses, along with obtaining the off-label medication required to help Erik beat this.

Erik is a father to one, a husband, a son, and the oldest brother to 3 other siblings. We know Erik is going to beat this, and get back out there doing what he loves, helping others and riding motorcycles. He has overcome more than most will have to overcome in a lifetime, and right now he needs your help.
