Support Derby Mountain Rescue Team
I recently joined Derby Mountain Rescue Supporters and am raising money to support the Rescue Team by walking The Cape Wrath Trail, a tough (some say the toughest in the British Isles) 200 mile or so hike from Fort William to the North West point of Scotland. I shall be staying in mountain bothies or camping while completing the trail.
Derby Mountain Rescue Team is a voluntary emergency service which depends entirely on contributions from the public to function at all, and so the more contributions we receive the more effectively we can help people who require our services. We attend callouts in response to requests from Derbyshire Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service, and West Midlands Ambulance Service. Derby Mountain Rescue Team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and consists entirely of highly skilled unpaid volunteers. The money I raise will go towards training new team members and maintaining the exacting standards we set ourselves in all that we do.
If you're a keen walker it's always reassuring to know that there is someone on the end of a phone who can help should you get into trouble, so please donate as much as you can afford to this essential service. You never know, you might need us the next time you're out walking should the unexpected happen.
