This fundraiser is to support the completion of Cosmic Disco Detective Rene: The Mystery of Immortal Time Travelers, The Secret Society For Slow Romance 2 feature length comedy and for distribution related expenses - including showing the film for a week or longer at an art house movie theater in LA.

July 16 Update - Finishing up some final color and sound work on the movie. After that we will have new screening dates for LA, new limited VOD start date and Eventive virtual screenings w/ Q&A start dates. More next week!

Update, 3/18/23 - The new solution is to run this fundraising project for 1000 days (about 2.75 years), bring in at least $30/day on average, to hit the $30K goal. Faster would be better :).

About the movie and the distro project

Were you just wondering why immortal time travelers from the future are traveling back in time? Are they messing with the past? Is it a danger for us? How did they become immortal? How did they figure out time travel?

Good. The new sci-fi comedy Cosmic Disco Detective Rene deals with all of those questions. It's part 2 to everyone's (or at least most of the 10K+ people who have seen the movie so far :)) favorite 2020 made My Dinner with Andre-like comedy The Secret Society For Slow Romance. That's available for free on YouTube at the moment - so that the entire world can easily watch and enjoy the very long and funny convos between an indie filmmaker and an underground filmmaker in Brooklyn. In Cosmic Disco Detective Rene we take the characters from Slow Romance and send them on a sci-fi comedy quest.

And on top of that we are going to show the finished movie in LA - at an art house movie theater - for at least a week - maybe longer. It's a great way to bring a movie out to the world. And it's a great way to promote and support art house movie theaters - remind people to head back to the theaters, save that high quality form of film presentation.

Cost of project, amount raised, current need

The cost of all this for 2023 will be around $60K (completing the film, getting everything ready for releasing the film, + the actual release work - including ads and promo - we want a lot of people to hear about the movie). I've raised 1/2 of that, and I am now asking the people of the internet to join me in these film art making and presentation adventures, donate money, so that we can finish and release Cosmic Disco Detective Rene! Feel free to contact me about any questions and any other ways that you may want to help the project. Or just to say hello and talk about your own theories about time travelers.

Support a real indie, non-Marvel movie :)

Cosmic Disco Detective Rene is a real indie film with a diverse cast. And it will be self-distributed. It's film art. In this era of never ending cartoony Marvel movies, it will be fun and enjoyable to watch a NYC made sci-fi comedy that takes place in the real world.

An early access video screener will go out to all donors who give $20 or more. Early access that will be available when the movie screens in LA - starting at some point in August 2023. The movie may not be available on VOD to the general public for a year or so after the LA premiere - as I plan on doing a lot of theatrical screenings, special events, limited VOD with the movie first.

Donors who do not want to be publicly thanked can indicate that when they make the donation.
