Help Breanna Continue Her Education

Hello, my name is Breanna Taylor. I am a junior at Alverno College on a full academic scholarship and I am asking for help to continue my education. I stayed on campus over the summer because I did not have housing options off campus. I tried taking out a loan to pay for the cost of this housing, but I was denied the loan. I have a remaining balance of $1,800 to pay Alverno College by Thursday September 14th before I am dropped from all my classes. I understand this is a short turnaround, but I wanted to try every option before taking a break and jeopardizing my full scholarship at Alverno.

• I am majoring in Communications with a double Minor in Politics and Community Engagement and Activism.

• I plan to work within my community and continue my work with nonprofits.

• I have been working with Teens Grow Greens since my junior year of high school, cultivating my passion for the Milwaukee community and the amazing work being done in it. (Teens Grow Greens is a nonprofit that provides teens with transformative learning opportunities, skill building, career exploration, and leadership growth through apprenticeships and internships.)

• I have been a spokesperson for many Teens Grow Greens events, along with events hosted at Alverno around the topics of women in public life and food insecurities in Milwaukee.

• I am also hosting the upcoming annual event with Teens Grow Greens The Perennial.

These are just some of the many things I have accomplished and am extremely proud of. I hope to continue working towards my goals of community service and affecting change in our local community. Everyone deserves an education and an equal path to success, but sometimes it does not work like that. That is why I am asking for help to continue my college degree. All the donations will go directly to Alverno to pay my remaining balance, so I will not be dropped from my classes and can continue to further my education. Alverno legally cannot accepted the GoFundMe, however it will go straight to my student balance. If my goal is reached donations will no longer be accepted.

No one wants to be in a position they must ask for help, however all I have ever wanted is a college degree to prepare me for a career and break the cycle I was born into. One day I will be on the other side of this GoFundMe, but my time has not come yet.

If my goal is not reached by Thursday, I will be dropped from my classes and must move off campus. This is extremely hard for me to hear but does not mean I will give up on my education. Schooling is something I am deeply passionate about and the possibility of even taking a break is terrifying, however I will overcome it. Whatever happens I know I will find the best path out. If I don’t meet my goal by Thursday afternoon, all funds donated will still be paid to Alverno College to reduce my debt. Once my bill is paid in full, I hope to be reinstated at Alverno College in the spring or fall of 2024. Thank you!
