Chase needs help
I'm starting this fundraiser, but think the story would be better told from the horse's mouth:
"I am a 26 year old US ARMY Veteran with a passion for hiking and adventure. I fell in love with hiking about two years ago when I realized how well it helped me cope with my PTSD. Before one of my hikes at the end of March of 2021, I hyper extended my left knee. A visit to the ER put me on crutches and I followed up with an orthopedic in April who did a series of X-rays and an MRI. Nothing appeared torn or damaged; I was told to continue doing PT, remain on crutches as needed and follow up with the doctor in a month. "
"I decided to get a second opinion by the end of May after weeks of PT left me with little to no improvement. Now completely unable to straighten my knee or put weight on my left leg, another MRI was performed by my second orthopedic. On June 7th, my doctor called me and told me that with the results of the most recent MRI it appears I may have cancer. "
"Within two weeks I found myself sitting in Fox Chase Cancer Center with my mom waiting for an oncologist to review my MRIs. By this point I was sick and my body was in constant pain, unable to keep food or liquids down. My appointment ended with me being rushed on a stretcher into the hospital to expedite testing as the oncologist was certain I had lymphoma."
"I stayed four days inpatient in order for them to get me stable. On June 22nd, I was officially diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. More specifically Burkitts Lymphoma which is a rare and more aggressive type of cancer. By the end of that week I was receiving my first round of chemotherapy and shortly after immunotherapy. My regimen calls for treatment every two weeks for 4-6 months."
To continue the story, Chase is unable to work, therefore unable to pay regular bills. The parents have recently paid some, but of course can't afford to keep doing that.
