PADDY FITZGERALD & LISNACRIEVE CD

Donation protected
Paddy Fitzgerald is one of Australia's most loved and respected Irish traditional musicians. He is a master of the B/C button accordion and his influence on generations of Irish musicians in Australia has been profound. His generosity and encouragement towards musicians of all levels is legendary, as is his powerful, intricate and lilting musical style.

This project aims to capture the extraordinary musical characteristics of this iconic musician who brought the music of his East Clare childhood to Melbourne as a young man and influenced hundreds of local musicians. In an intimate session with three long-time friends and fellow musicians, Jack Brennan, Ewen Baker and Geoff McArthur, a collection of both Paddy's best known and personal favourite tunes have been captured by renowned musician and sound engineer Luke Plumb.

Recorded in July 2019 on a Sunday afternoon at Barb's house in Kew, Victoria, this recording beautifully documents the sound and spirit of Paddy Fitzgerald doing what he loves best - sharing his music with friends. There are twelve tracks with plenty of driving reels along with brilliantly played waltzes, jigs, hornpipes and even an exquisite old song from Paddy.

We believe the CD will represent a vitally important artefact in the story of Irish traditional music in Australia and a portrait of a living legend of "the tradition”.

Please make a donation to allow us to complete the art-work, formatting and production of the CD.

With a donation of $30 or more, we will send you a copy of the finished product.

Thank you.
