Help Save Griffin

Hello, my name is Rudy Kayan, and I am raising money for my Son Griffin, who has sickle cell anemia and needs a bone marrow transplant.

I am usually the person who is the go-to in trying times, but I am at my wit's end. For those of you who are familiar with sickle cell, it is a terrible disease that affects the African American community. Over the years, I have lost an aunt and cousin to this disease. I carry the trait but luckily never experienced the condition. Unfortunately, my son was not as lucky. Due to his condition, Griffin is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant, which my family cannot afford.

Griffin has never been able to finish a semester of school on time and has repeatedly taken medical leave. He is on a number of medications and recently began taking a chemotherapy drug. I miss seeing Griffin being healthy and playing with his friends. My son is not the only one suffering, but the situation has become dire. On top of his failing physical health, the situation has negatively impacted his mental wellness.

As a result of these events, my family's medical debt and expenses are rising. I hate to bother people around me and I feel like a burden. This battle is financially straining and emotionally exhausting. I want the best for my son. I need financial assistance to keep my son and family afloat. I appreciate all the love and support for my family. Any help is greatly appreciated. Any money will make a direct impact on my day-to-day as I support my son in the hospital daily. Griffin has had a very trying life, to put it mildly. He has been in and out of the hospital his entire life. However, thru the mercy of God, he will be undergoing an experimental bone marrow transplant in September, 2022. The recovery period for Griffin is 3-5 months, with the bulk of that time spent in the hospital.

During the last few years, our family has been able to scrape by while dealing with hospital bills, missed work and lack of food and money. The money will be used for the experimental bone marrow transplant. Pay off some of our debts and loans incurred while trying to save Griffin’s life. Thank you so much for taking the time to help us.
