A documentary exploring aphasia and apraxia, stroke survivors, speech pathology, brain neuroplasticity, insurance difficulties, and HOPE.
3 million people have aphasia, but only 7% people have heard about it. Aphasia is an impairment of language, affecting the production or comprehension of speech and the ability to read or write. Aphasia is always due to injury to the brain-most commonly from a stroke.
Aphasia can be so severe as to make communication with the patient almost impossible, or it can be very mild. It may affect mainly a single aspect of language use, such as the ability to retrieve the names of objects, or the ability to put words together into sentences, or the ability to read. There are 7 types of about aphasia. There is no cure for aphasia.
I have aphasia and apraxia. I had a stroke on February 12, 2020. My stroke caused an unknown hole (actually 2 holes) in my heart. I had heart surgery March 17, 2020 to correct my heart. In 41 years, I was in my prime in my career (11 years as attorney). I created my own firm for intellectual property (patents/trademark), and I was passion for pro bono (prisoner for constitutional rights). Now, I'm starting to read again, to write again, and to understand again.
But…this documentary is not for me. It is for 3 million people have aphasia. It is for people have never heard aphasia. It is for people that will have a stroke in the future with aphasia. And they will be scared like I was.
The funds will used about the documentary (păh: hope is within your reach). Păh was my first word after my stroke. I was an attorney not a filmmaker. I created the documentary trailer on my own with Adobe Preimere Pro. I directed the documentary trailer on my own. And I edited the documentary trailer on my own. I filmed the documentary trailer on my iPhone, tripod, and audio (~$280). But I want to create a full documentary with distribution to have many people watch.
Please help me on this important issue about aphasia and apraxia, stroke survivors, speech pathology, brain neuroplasticity, insurance difficulties, and HOPE.
