Paige Thacker- Study Abroad Service Learning Trip to Ghana

Donation protected

April 9, 2024

Greetings Friends, Family, and Prospective Donors,
I am Paige Thacker, a current Sophomore and soon to be a rising Junior majoring in Political Science at the illustrious Tennessee State University. Because of my excellent academic performance and university participation (4.0 GPA, four-time Dean’s List recipient), I have received the prestigious invitation from the university to travel abroad to Ghana, West Africa this summer as an ambassador with the Women’s Center at Tennessee State University, for a service learning program with the HBCU Africa Education Coalition (HAEC).
I need your help to get there. Join me in raising funding for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Funds will be used for travel, museum and landscape experiences, donations to those less fortunate, my service project, and additional miscellaneous expenses.
About the HAEC experience:
The HBCU Africa Education Coalition (HAEC) provides students the opportunity to study abroad and student exchange which uses a Pan-African model designed to promote Pan Africanism, Global Competency, and Leadership skills among students of African Ancestry. I and other student leaders from HBCUs and African Universities, will focus on the principles of Identity and the Primacy of Africa, Humanism, and African Unity and Socialism which will allow me to take actions to make my local, national, and international ecosystems more Equitable and Inclusive.
In February of 2024, I received my acceptance notification from HAEC to participate in the program in Africa for the Summer of 2024. I will attend a 2 ½ week experience in Ghana.

The experience will focus on identity development through cultural immersion, career focus
through experiential learning, research via the Research Day and Symposium during the HAEC
Conference (Ghana), networking with students across HBCUs, African based Universities, and
Allied Institutions, and more.

For more information about the program, visit the website for the HBCU Africa Education
Coalition | 100,000 Strong Africa for details on the mission to engage 100K students of the
African Diaspora in Study Abroad, Student Exchanges, and collaborative research in Africa.
As I mentioned earlier, this great experience has financial obligations. I request your assistance to allow me to fully engage this opportunity. The remaining expense of the study abroad program is $2,500.00, and must be received by May 15, 2024.

Your donation in the name of Paige Thacker will be greatly appreciated. I thank you in
advance for your donation.

My Sincere Thanks and Appreciation,

Paige Thacker
