Bring Cathy Home

This go fund me is being created in hopes to be able to transfer Cathy home via plane to Maryland to finish out her battle her surrounded by her support system. This type of transport is going to cost around $25,000. Below is a few of the details of her battle this go around with lung cancer.

As many of you know on April 5th 2023 Cathy Partin underwent lung resection for a mass on her lungs in Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. This is her 3rd battle with lung cancer, she is a warrior and has battled back both times and is putting up one hell of a fight this time.

Since then she has had many complications from the initial surgery. On April 7th they took the chest tube out and fluid started to build up on her lungs. She then developed ARDS, which is the hardening of the lungs. On April 11th Cathy crashed, they brought her back quickly but they then had to take drastic measures. The doctors decided to use paralytics and sedate her to help her body rest and recover as smoothly as possible. They also did a tracheotomy and put her on a ventilator to help her as she could not breathe on her own.

Once she was weaned from the paralytics she woke up and we thought she was on the road to recovery, but she has faced a few complications since then. She developed a huge sore on the top of her butt from moisture build up which is very painful for her & makes it a little tougher to do physical therapy and get stronger. They placed a PEG tube to give her nutrition and a few of her medications through it. She then developed an infection and the PEG tube had to be removed. She went without any nutrition for a week and they finally placed an NG tube to get her some nutrients. They are going to reattempt the placement of the PEG tube this Friday, May 26th.

Once that happens we are hoping she can transfer to the LTAC center but we are hoping to be able to transfer her home to recover here in Maryland where she can be surrounded by her support system. I have to work to keep her insurance so being down there with her could potentially put our future off care in jeopardy & we’ve tried sending our kids down there in my place but they can not handle it being so far away from home.

Without me working we are in a financial whole & on top of all of this we are losing our house so we have to find a new place to live in the midst of her recovery.
