Pale Fire Theater's "Waiting For Godot"
Donation protected
Traditional theatrical opportunities available to young actors tend to box us in. Either there’s an age type to fit into or an experiential one. Or we’re thrown into the world of “experimental theater,” where too often, we’re the subjects of the experiment and not the experimenters. We founded Pale Fire Theater to create opportunities for young artists to make art that excites us. Art that is otherwise inaccessible in traditional school or professional settings.
This December, we can’t wait to put on three performances of Waiting for Godot at the stunning West End Theater on the Upper West Side. This confusing, hilarious, and meaningless play is often reserved for an older generation of actors and creatives. Our company, however, is composed entirely of student creatives from Columbia and NYU.
This is an ensemble production; there’s no single director, but rather a collective of actors and off-stage creatives working together to bring Beckett’s scenario to life. Godot features Shayan Hooshmand as Estragon, Henry Alper as Vladimir, Nils Asmundsson as Pozzo and John Howley as Lucky. Off-stage creatives include Josie Bourelly, Sophie Craig, and Julia Patella. The production is produced by Olivia Namkoong, designed by Maya Weed, and stage managed by Kathy Fang and Jennie Yu.
We need your help to make this show a reality. Your contributions will help us attend to the essential demands of putting on a show: space rental, rights acquisition, costumes, lights, publicity, props, and set design. We appreciate your help. See you in December!
