Palmer Family Adoption Fundraiser

Hello! We’re the Palmers and our family is in the process of adopting a precious teenager nicknamed Meme! We met Meme at Camp Hope (a foster care-related event) in 2019. She lived in a group home for girls at the time, but we stayed in touch after clicking at camp, and she asked if we would be her mentors while visiting our neighborhood a couple of months later. We said "Yes!" and the four of us have spent lots of time bonding ever since. It was hard to live so far apart in 2019 and 2020, but we got together as often as we could (birthdays, holidays, vacations, etc), and once she was able to take her 12th-grade classes virtually (in February 2021), she moved in with us full-time. Our bond has strengthened even more since then and when Meme shared about her desire to be adopted by us, we immediately began researching how to make it happen! (Fun fact: when Steevenson was little, I asked him to draw a picture of our family and he included an older sister in his drawing. I thought it was odd at the time, but now it totally makes sense! And Meme just *happens* to be Haitian too!)

Since Meme will be 19 this week, ours will be considered an Adult Adoption. We are hiring an Adoption Attorney to help us through the process and we created this fundraiser in an effort to raise the funds we need to proceed. Assuming no unexpected issues pop up along the way, we're hoping for a final court date sometime later this Summer or Fall!
