Pam Moreland #PAMSTRONG

On December 27th, 2019 Pam went to the hospital for pain in her chest where they received the news that there was a mass in her right lung. After testing, Pam was diagnosed with Stage 3B small cell lung cancer. On January 29th, 2020 she started her first fight where she received 4 rounds of intensive chemotherapy and immunotherapy. On October 22nd, 2020 Pam went in for another scan where she received wonderful news, the cancer was no longer visible. A few weeks later she started experiencing neurological symptoms and left sided weakness. After spending Thanksgiving with her family, Pam went in for an MRI. On December 2nd 2020, the horrible news came again. She had 2 spots on her brain and was immediately put on anti-seizure medication and was out of work indefinitely. She relied on family and friends to bring her places because she was no longer permitted to drive by the doctors. She started her second fight on December 7th, 2020 where she received 3 sessions of Gamma Knife Radiation on her brain to combat the cancer. After an emotional month, Pam’s neurological symptoms started to resolve. She went in for another MRI on February 8th, 2021 to see how the radiation worked and to much relief her 2 spots were cleared! She was ordered to take an intensive driving test through ECMC to make sure her vision was okay to drive the following week. She passed and was excited for a hopeful return back to work and the ability to drive again. On February 18th, 2021 Pam had a routine CT scan where they were given the news that she had a 4cm tumor on her kidney as well as a blood clot. She was put on blood thinners and the plan is to receive 4 rounds of double immunotherapy. Due to the intense side effects of the immunotherapy drugs, her doctors did not clear her to go back to work. With all her treatments come medical bills, which are starting to pile up.
