Pam Riebel's Medical Expenses & Bills

Dear Family and Friends,
I am writing this on behalf of my nephew, Jim Riebel, whose wife, Pam, has been diagnosed with lung cancer. I truly appreciate, in advance, you taking the time to hear their story:
Pam, Pammy, "Best Hair Stylist Ever," Mom, and Mom-Mom, are just some of the loving names this incredible woman has gone by.
In October 2022, Pam went to the doctor's office to get a stubborn cough checked out. As a precaution, her doctor recommended getting a chest x-ray. It was that scan that detected an unexpected mass. At that point, more testing was needed to further investigate.
Multiple scans and imaging later, Pam and her family learned that Pam had Stage 4 lung cancer. Additionally, the doctors found spots on her brain and pancreas. This was devastating news-especially for someone who was always "on the go."
Pam and her family continued to stay positive as she sought treatment with MD Anderson. She started her first round of treatment during the week of Christmas-three days of chemotherapy then twenty-one days off. This would be the plan for up to four treatment sessions. Despite being tired and weak at times, Pam still found the energy to keep her salon running and her clients happy. She was determined to help people keep those gray hairs at bay :)
In March 2023, Pam had routine scans done. Fortunately, it looked like the chemotherapy was working-all the tumors had shrunk considerably. Immunotherapy was begun to keep everything progressing forward.
In the weeks that followed, Pam became more weak and more tired. After consulting with her doctors in April, it was determined that the immunotherapy was not working. Pam decided to step away from work for a while to take care of her health. Her doctors would have her begin a new chemotherapy treatment in May. Since the tumors had returned and were now larger, the new round of treatment would be once every twenty-one days.
After the start of the new treatment, a feeding tube was inserted to help give Pam some much-needed extra nutrition. During this time, the doctors discovered that the brain tumor had returned. On July 6, Pam completed her 10th and final round of radiation. Since then, Pam has continued to grow weaker. Unfortunately, without any treatment, the cancer has returned in full force. Since being told that doctors cannot do anything more, Pam and her family have turned her care over to Hospice. They will keep her as comfortable as possible at home until the end.
Jim has been supporting them but it has become a struggle financially. As you can probably imagine, medical bills are mounting on top of their regular expenses. I am reaching out to you to see if we can help lessen the financial burden Pam, Jim, and their family have had to endure.
Those of you who know Pam, you know what a special person she is. She's an amazing mother, mom-mom, wife, sister, and friend to all who have been lucky enough to know her. Please know that anything you can donate is greatly appreciated, whether it is simply your thoughts and prayers for her and the family.
With love,
Candi
