A Second Chance at Life – Double Lung Transplant Fund for Pam:

My sister Pamela Finlay Thomas, is fighting for her life and we are asking for help. Pam has battled severe lung disease for 17 years. Pam is in desperate need of a double lung transplant and is living on Oxygen. The testing to get on this list has been extensive and long. She is in the end-stages of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). I am Pam’s youngest sibling Sue (Susie) and I, along with her daughter Kendra-Lee, sweet Granddaughter Aubrey, all her siblings, and dear friend Vivian (post surgery caregiver) hope you will read this letter and consider donating AND if you cannot we appreciate your prayers and your sharing of this GoFund Me.

It is easy to take breathing for granted, but it can be unbearable to witness the suffering of someone struggling to breathe. Always living with potential tragedy around the corner is exhausting for Pam and her loved ones. These days Pam is struggling to breathe with every step. Her quality of life is deeply impacted and will continue to deteriorate.

In March 2023, Pam had a life-threatening exacerbation, thanks to her granddaughter Aubrey’s quick thinking, Pam survived. Since then, Pam has had several severe flare-ups, spending months in and out of the hospital. After many months of testing, Pam is anxiously waiting to be on the organ donor list.

Pam’s ability to work has been affected by her health for many years affecting her financial stability. She has exhausted her savings. Funds raised will be used to cover the costs surrounding surgery, recovery, living expenses and ongoing care, these expenses are overwhelming. Pam needs to focus on healing, and not on worrying about how to pay the bills. Pam has SO appreciated her siblings help over the years, but the time has come to widen the reach given the scope of current circumstances. To live, Pam must have this surgery. To have this surgery, Pam needs significant financial help.

Pam is strong with a kind heart, positive outlook and great sense of humor! She is ready to fight and has much more life to live! She and Aubrey (7) and Kendra-Lee (29) have big hopes and plans!
