Pan Verus Project's New Office Space
Donation protected
The Pan Verus Project has grown leaps and bounds since it's inception in 2017.
We've opened the Outamba Kilimi National Park Education Centre and Community Library, surveyed all 23 interior villages about human-wildlife conflict and conduction conservation sensitisation activities (like documentary screenings and camera trap lessons), and completed our first 10 week environmental education curriculum with two primary schools. We've also surveyed over half of the park with cameras in an attempt to document every species currently living inside OKNP and we'll be back at it with more wildlife surveys this spring!
We love Outamba Kilimi National Park, but with our new research goals, links with Sierra Leonean Universities, and our aim to have staff based in Sierra Leone full-time, we need a space outside of the park.
There is no WiFi or reliable electricity at OKNP, which means we have to travel 4 hours to Makeni to stay and work when many things need to get done! We also support national park rangers (staff and volunteer) in taking skills classes in Makeni (English literacy and computer skills).
The Pan Verus Project is hoping to expand our staff and volunteers this year, but we can't do it without a place to put them!
The next step for us is to secure an office space/permanent accommodation in the closest city to the national park, Makeni. To do this we need to raise £3,000 ($3,865) to cover full building rental, wifi, electricity, and security for a whole year.
Can you help us grow this holiday season? More space means we can accommodate more staff and volunteers, which means we can get more work done!
We have an incredibly busy year coming up, but we know it's only going to get more exciting! Help us protect Sierra Leone's wildlife and inspire the next generation of Sierra Leonean wildlife conservationists.
