Please join us in support for Richie Sarnes Jr. Richie is a loving father of two sons Justin & Tyler. A son, a brother and dedicated caring friend. He is a 3rd generation Piller of his Tottenville community

 

At the end of February 2024 Richie checked into the hospital with terrible stomach pains. It was discover that tumors were the causing a blockage and parts of his small intestines were removed. Weeks later while still recovering he was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer which has metastasized.

Richie is yet another victim of 9/11, please take a moment to read his story.

 

Richie loved working for the FDNY, following in his grandfathers footsteps. His career, spanning 17 years, ended when he was injured on the job. Another vehicle struck his which resulted in spinal damage and needing rods to be implanted. He has suffered in pain since.

Unfortunately for him and many others, the 9/11 terrorist attacks occurred during his time with the FDNY. Richie was heavily involved in the cleanup and recovery effort from the beginning. While cleaning the fire trucks and equipment, Richie was exposed to large amounts of asbestos.

 

Because of this exposure, Richie has had diminishing lung capacity. We would never have guessed that after all this time, things would get worse, much worse.

 

Richie is now fighting for his life, and that has become his full time job. Between this and spending as much time with his family and friends he is concerned about keeping up with bills, both medical, and cost of living. We are hoping to raise money to relieve this burden and concern from him and his children. If we could lift even a fraction of the weight on his shoulders it would make him stronger for his fight, the fight of his life.
