This year, this group of six middle school students from Paonia K8 participated in Destination Imagination (DI). Five of the six team members were brand new to DI. The team chose the Technical challenge called "Piece by Piece" and placed 2nd at the Colorado State tournament qualifying them for GLOBAL FINALS! Globals will be held on May 20-23 in Kansas City.

DI is a STEAM competition where team members compete in 6 unique challenge categories that are open-ended and encourage the team members to explore the creative process and develop/enhance new skills and talents. In their challenge, the PK8 team "Inertia" had to create and build a puzzle that was assembled during their 8-minute presentation. In addition, the team had to design and construct two different team-created puzzle solvers and create a story about a character’s understanding changing during a pivotal moment.

The team placed first during their regional competition and second at the state competition. That qualified the team for Global Finals!

Global Finals is in Kansas City MO on May 20-23 and truly is a Global competition with over 10 countries participating. This team desires to experience Globals and participate on a world stage. Please help send team "Inertia" to GLOBAL FINALS!
