Papa Kim's Paradise Fall

We’ve all seen the movie UP, where Mr. Frederickson and his wife Ellie lived a beautiful life together, documenting their travels in an Adventure Book, all the while planning their dream vacation to Paradise Falls in South America. When Ellie passes away, Mr. Fredrickson ties thousands of balloons to his house to complete the trip they’d planned together in honor of his late wife.

Now, meet Papa Kim. He's Ellie from the movie UP—he has a paper adventure book filled with pictures and notes about places he wants to go. Papa Kim's ultimate Paradise Falls Vacation is visiting Spain & Portugal. For as long as I can remember, he’s wanted to take a European adventure with Mama Kim. He’s been saving for decades to take her for their 35th wedding anniversary, this year.

Last year, Papa Kim was diagnosed with Stage 4 liver cancer that spread to his bones. With this diagnosis, Papa and Mama Kim's lives stopped. Since then, everything from budget to time has been spent meeting with doctors and figuring out a treatment plan. With treatment, Papa Kim has held up well for the past year. However, as his condition slowly worsens, and his treatment plan gets more aggressive, he is slowly fading. We, his family, are looking to raise the rest of the funds for Mama and Papa Kim to go on one last trip together, filling up his Adventure Book pages for the last time.

Papa Kim, an adventurer at heart, is a lover of trains, boats, and planes. His ultimate adventure is taking a European train ride from Spain to Portugal, and then visiting his nephew in Germany before returning home. Please help us add a balloon to the house, so Papa Kim can fly to his very own Paradis Falls.
