Paper Kites for Palestine
Donation protected
In 2011, the children of Gaza flew 12350 kites breaking the world record for most kites flown at one time.
We are a group of concerned Australian citizens bringing our community together to fold 12,000 paper kites within 12 hours to honour this achievement and to create a visual representation of the devasting number of children killed, which have now exceeded that number.
We are asking people to collect at least $1 for every kite they fold, or simply donate money if they cannot attend the event.
The funds raised will be distributed 3 ways:
45% Will go towards the Australian Palestinian Advocacy Network
45% Will go directly to the Olive Kids Foundation providing aid directly to children in Gaza
10% Will go to the Catalyst Social Centre, a social collective who are catering and hosting our event
The event is happening on Saturday 23rd of March in Coburg, Melbourne Australia.
The kites themselves will go on display at the Black Spark Cultural Centre where they will become a memorial to the innocent lives lost. We intend to add more kites, one for every child killed, until this catastrophe ends.
