Para Archery classification
Donation protected
Welcome and thank you for reading our story! My name is Gary and my wife Wendy is a hemorrhagic stroke survivor. She is partially paralyzed on her left side with no use of her left hand or arm. She also has foot drop which limits her mobility. Since her stroke in October of 2000 she has been unable to participate in sports. She became interested in archery after watching some very inspiring par archers at the Vegas Shoot in 2019. Since then our whole family has started participating in the sport of archery. We have recently started competing and para archers must receive a classification to participate in national World Archery events. Classification is only offered a couple of times a year so we will need to travel to either Arizona in April or Oregon or Colorado in July. Unfortunately this is very expensive along with the added cost of specialized equipment.
So far I have been fabricating her adapted equipment but eventually there are some pieces that will need to be made professionally. Adapted equipment must be custom made and therefore is not readily available in shops or even on the internet. There is also very little information available and everything we adapt is by trial and error. We have a Facebook page where we share everything we make or learn in hopes of helping others with their adaptive archery journey.
Any funds we raise will go to travel for para archery classification or for adapted equipment. For every donation we receive of $50 or more, we will send you a custom GX4 Adaptive Archery T-shirt. We truly appreciate any and all support of our adaptive archery journey.
Make sure to like our GX4 Adaptive Archery page on Facebook to keep up with our progress! Archery is truly a sport for anyone and any ability. We welcome you to come shoot with us!
