Brain injury can challenge every aspect of your life – walking, talking, thinking and feeling – and the losses can be severe and permanent. It can mean losing both the life you once lived and the person you once were.

We all think 'it will never happen to me', but every year around 350,000 people are admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury.

That's one every 90 seconds.

A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. through accident or illness ,when it does, Headway is here to help.

Im doing this as I have seen first hand how it severely impacts on families lives and by having the right sort of support and help takes some of the burden of struggling with life after the injury.

So Im doing this in honour of my mother in law who had a stroke a few years ago and and completely lost her memory. Not knowing who anyone was , including her family. Objects, animals , places, knowing her own home or remembering her past all gone . No memory of anything.

Mary has been very courageous and fought hard to relearn her life and the one thing that always remains is her big smile. Its been hard very hard and still some days are a struggle for her . I want to do this in her name and help others who are effected by brain injury.
