Parallel 40 String Quartets

Hi!
We are the Belinfante Quartet - a string quartet who love connecting people, places and traditional music. We are named after Frieda Belinfante, Dutch cellist, resistance fighter and Europe's first female conductor. Welcome to Phase 1 of our Parallel 40th North project - to raise funds for a CD recording.
We love all music that connects people and cultures, and we need your help to make our musical connections happen. We are embarking on a musical journey around the globe, following the Parallel 40th North line of latitude. Through countries, oceans, meeting people and their music and following their stories. This all started because our cellist Pau, is native to the island of Menorca - which sits directly on the Parallel 40th line. He loves nothing better than to talk to islanders, who often come from all over the globe, and to hear their stories. Now we want to connect this storytelling through traditional music, and through composers of these 'Parallel 40 countries'. Through arrangements (often by us!) and compositions for string quartet, you can join us, Pau, Olivia, Fiona and Henrietta as we join as four people singing through their instruments and sharing stories.
We are fundraising to document the first phase of this project - on a CD! All proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards costs of creating this CD, and any extras will go towards arranging and composing, and putting on live performances and events, so we can share the wealth of music and stories from all these people and countries world-wide.
Every donation will receive a little video clip of one of our Parallel 40 musical arrangements - exclusive to only our supporters.
We thank you for joining us on this global journey, do write to us about our music, and any stories you might have about the Parallel 40th Line!
