Paramedic placement Ghana
Donation protected
Hi!
Over the last four years, I’ve been working towards becoming a registered Paramedic. I’m almost at the end of my journey and have the opportunity to enhance my clinical practice alongside supporting a healthcare system in Ghana. I will spend two weeks in the Emergency Department in Takoradi and one week in a rural village providing a "pop-up" health facility.
I aim to gain vital clinical experience to help me become the best paramedic I can be back in the UK, gaining valuable cultural understanding alongside helping as many people as possible.
Ghana has a universal health care system, the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), and until the establishment of the National Health Insurance Scheme, many people died because they did not have money to pay for their health care needs when they were taken ill.
Many people in Ghana can not afford to pay the national health insurance premiums, meaning they do not receive any care, no matter how poorly they are. I would love to be able to help someone with life-saving treatment while I am out there.
The rough estimated cost of my trip to Ghana is in the region of £5500-£6000
I would be thankful for any donation from 20p to £2000 ;)
