Initial injury happened working in ICU on a nightshift bending over to pick up a pen (I was an ICU nurse) I have an ostomy for my bowel management with the spinal injury (I call it Stevie the Stoma)

This challenge will be the first paraplegics to canoe 235km down the lower Zambezi over 5 days. This is no easy challenge as we will be out of our comfort zones with regards the needs we require as a wheelchair users.

We are going to raising money to be split equally between two charities

Whizz Kidz is the UK leading charity for young wheelchair users. They create opportunities for young wheelchair users to get the equipment, skills and confidence to go. As the Head Caoch for the Lancaster Bulldogs Wheelchair Basketball Club, Whizz Kidz have provided valuable funding for the Juniors of the club to obtain their own made to measure RGK basketball chairs and set them all on their playing journey.

Spinal Research are the UK’s leading medical charity for research into spinal cord injury. They exist to cure paralysis and believe in the future where an injury to the spinal cord no longer means a life sentence. As a Spinal Cord injury individual it is impoetant that any research that can help change a persons life who is found to be in thi position is so important, and this charity are always supporting and looking at anything that can be done.

We will also be sourcing and donating wheelchairs to Mtendere Mission Hospital in Zambia as part of this challenge.

The Hospital is located in Chirundu, small township of the southern province of Zambia, right in the Zambezi valley bordering with Zimbabwe, about 150km from the Capital Lusaka. This donation would make such a huge difference to the community so please get in touch if you are able to donate good quality wheelchairs.

Plus we will be donating equipment for Kupulullira Primary school
