Paraplegic standing frame
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Kerry Nesbitt and I am a 47 year old paraplegic. I am looking to raise enough money to purchase a standing frame. Medicare doesn’t cover them because they don’t think we need them, since we are not going to walk again. I call BS on that! I need to get up. It’s been almost nine years and not standing is so bad for the body. My digestive system is a mess, my bones are deteriorating, my circulation is bad, and all because I cannot move around. You see, I am paralyzed from my armpits on down, so all I have is my arms. If I could be upright I think it would improve my bodily functions. I became paralyzed after a series of events. I had a partial hysterectomy and five days later threw a large clot out of my left shoulder. It went tearing through my heart and into my right lung. It set off an aortic dissection (or aneurysm). After the surgery to repair it which went ok, I started to lose feeling in my legs. They discovered that blood seeped into my spinal cord and was squeezing the nerves. After a lumbar puncture to alleviate the pressure, I was left paralyzed. I was in the hospital for two months, then rehab. My house had to have an addition and it is great except my bathroom. I have a lot of horrible nerve pain in my legs and feet. I also have huge knots in the upper back muscles that never relax. I live on social security disability. My husband divorced me after twenty years because it was just too much for him. I want to get up so so bad! Please help me purchase this one piece of equipment. Thank you all!❤️
